Aug 16, 2007 · Pro M4 modal comes with standard 24GB AND thunderbolt 5 ports for additional 400 dollars but modal choice depends entirely on your workflow. 200 dollars for RAM upgrade ONLY additional 8 GB RAM you will not see a major difference. Might as well get the M4 Pro chip for another additonal 200 dollars and default 24GB RAM.

Dec 2, 2020 · See, now that I’m an owner of an M4 Mac, I’m tempted to test the waters of local LLMs. I bought the same machine as OP, the M4 Pro with 24GB of RAM. However, I’m switching to an M4 with 32GB of RAM, because I don’t really use the GPU that much, and upgrading storage and RAM on the M4 Pro is painful (for my pocket).

Feb 11, 2009 · We also don’t know if the Mini M4 Pro will throttle under load (they could have made the case a bit bigger, honestly…). Still, maybe there are some knowledgeable opinions on this, not necessarily just based on previous Apple Silicon models, but more on a technical sense of what programs benefit most from hardware upgrades.

Apr 17, 2010 · Before my new mac mini M4 Pro I used the base mac mini M2 and had no problems using Photoshop and the beta with the AI tools. M4 Pro will breeze through photoshop for most (unless yer weird and have hundreds of photos or more open at once) ;p ... no idea about vmware, most likely no problem but depends on how many vm's you run at once.

Dec 2, 2020 · I'm getting my new M4 Pro/64GB next week. Right now, with my M3 Pro/36GB, Qwen2.5-32b-Q4 is the best model I can run. The responses are solid and it's pretty fast too, so it’s working out well on this setup.

Oct 30, 2024 · Overkill? Yeah. But I needed to replace the 2014 Mini I was previously using for this. Thought I'd get an older Apple refurb m1 or m2 Mini. But, it just happened to be Black Friday and the base m4 Mini was on sale for $529 at B&H. The cheapest Apple refurb was an M2 for about the same price. Just didn't make sense to get that (and it only had 8gb).

I am spoiled from years of using my 2017 27-inch iMac 5K. Hoping someone has recommendations for an affordable 4K or 5K monitor (27 inch and up).

Nov 3, 2024 · 24Gb will be fine. Apple has only just made 16Gb the base for Macs, they're not going to introduce Apple Intelligence features that won't work on 16Gb machines in the next 5 years. I don't use any AI stuff like Claude.ai and ChatGPT but aren't both server-based? None of the actual AI stuff runs locally on the machine?
