A critical flood emergency was narrowly averted along the Nolichucky River in East Tennessee as the remnants of Hurricane Helene unleashed torrential rainfall.
The collapse of the Alau dam in the state of Borno caused some of the state's worst flooding since the same damcollapsed 30 years ago, and prompted many residents to flee their homes.
