The Dallas Cowboys have refused to give the Chicago Bears permission to interview Mike McCarthy just days after owner Jerry Jones promised to allow the head coach to speak with teams

Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy sat down to talk Tuesday. Later in the day, the Cowboys denied Chicago’s request to interview McCarthy for its head coaching vacancy. The two are related, based on what two people with knowledge of the impending discussions told The Dallas Morning News after the Bears made their request.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero appeared on The Rich Eisen Show, where he discussed the current head coach search situations around the league, including the Bears. For Chicago, it certainly appears to be a two-way race between Detroit Lions offense coordinator Ben Johnson and former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.
