"The Motor Vehicle Division portion of the bill is to stop MVD from selling data to anybody who would be using it for immigration purposes," Sen. Antoinette Sedillo Lopez said.

Republicans sponsoring the bill say this is a matter of safety, while organizations believe it's an act of exclusion against the transgender community.
