Indian news agency ANI has sued OpenAI in a New Delhi court, accusing the ChatGPT creator of using its published content without permission to help train the artificial intelligence chatbot, something that OpenAI says it has stopped doing.

Indian news agency ANI has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging copyright infringement. ANI claims OpenAI used its content without permission to train its AI chatbot, ChatGPT, and even attributed fabricated stories to the agency.

This was the first hearing of the case that took place in the Delhi High Court today, where the judge issued a notice to OpenAI seeking interim directions against ChatGPT. The court said that it would appoint an amicus curiae in the case considering the importance of the issue,
