Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the country wants to restore direct flights with India, as tensions between the two Asian neighbors dial down following a four-year impasse on border disputes.

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi met his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Monday in Rio de Janeiro, a statement from his ministry said on Tuesday, during which he called for the resumption of direct flights between the two countries.

Among the issues discussed were resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrimage, sharing of data on trans-border rivers, direct flights between India and China and media exchanges
