Although PennDOT crews have been treating roadways, the department’s primary goal is to keep roads passable, not completely free of ice and snow. PennDOT will continue to treat roadways throughout the storm until precipitation stops and roads are clear.

PennDOT has announced reductions in speed limits on interstate roadways in south-central Pennsylvania due to Sunday’s snowstorm.

With snow and falling temperatures making travel conditions more hazardous, PennDot has reduced speed limits on several roads in the Philadelphia region. Among the roads where speed limits have been reduced to 45 mph are Interstates 76,

PennDOT has also placed “tier 1″ vehicle-type restrictions on the entirety of I-83 and I-283, along with the I-81 from Maryland to the Schuylkill County line and the Pennsylvania Turnpike between the Carlisle and Morgantown exits.
