Montgomery, 46, was considered an internal favorite to become the Lions’ offensive coordinator after Ben Johnson departed to become the Chicago Bears’ new head coach. Ultimately, the role went to Auburn Hills native and Western Michigan graduate John Morton, who served as a senior offensive assistant on Dan Campbell’s staff in 2022.
