DBJ has mapped out current and future stores for the popular grocer, highlighting how H-E-B is pushing into new, far-flung parts of the Metroplex.
Grocery shoppers in North Texas have long relied on Central Market or Joe V's Smart Shop if they wanted H-E-B goods. But now, Dallas is finally getting a namesake store. The Texas grocer announced on Wednesday that it purchased a property in the city for its first H-E-B format store.
H-E-B is eyeing more potential expansion. The grocer has bought a site in Wise County, which sits somewhat northwest of the city of Fort Worth. In recent years, H-E-B has been announcing and opening stores across the region at a fairly rapid clip.
Other media outlets have reported that H-E-B bought the land to build a store at a later date, although no timetable was offered. Rhome City Council on Jan. 23 approved a development agreement with the company. After the vote, Rhome Mayor Kenneth Crenshaw said the company would build in the near future, the Wise County Messenger reported.
Texas grocer H-E-B announced last week it purchased property in Wise County, Texas, an area close to Fort Worth.

An H-E-B spokesperson said in an emailed statement to the Star-Telegram: “As part of our continued growth into North Texas, H-E-B has purchased property in rapidly growing Wise County to build at a later date. H-E-B has a vast portfolio of real estate across the region as we often buy real estate in anticipation of future growth.”

H-E-B wants to pave paradise and put up a parking lot. The Texas grocer is making plans in Dripping Springs, a city west of Austin, to demolish its 75,000-square-foot store off U.S. 290 and use the space as a parking lot for a new 125,
