A St. Lawrence County woman faces felony drug charges for allegedly having cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine.
On Jan. 20, units from the Utica Police Department and Oneida County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit executed the search warrant at 1307 Elm St. in connection with the ongoing sale and distribution of narcotics. Along with the drugs, a quantity of cash was also found.
"Over 90% of the cocaine the Michigan State Police tests contain fentanyl," said Saginaw County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Blair N. Stevenson.
Local and federal authorities conducting an investigation into drug trafficking in Orleans Parish arrested two men and seized guns, a cache of illegal narcotics including fentanyl and more than $33,000.
Police recognized one of the individuals as 22-year-old Jashaun Benaflew of Roxbury, who already had two active arrest warrants.
During the search, investigators found 76 grams of cocaine, 75 grams of MDMA, 22 grams of fentanyl, four bottles of promethazine codeine, a little over four pounds of processed marijuana and five alprazolam tablets. The drugs have an estimated street value of $39,950.
During the arrest, which occurred in the area of Laval Drive and Stevenson Road, police claim a loaded semi-automatic gun was found in the suspect’s jacket.
A search of the vehicle located cocaine and fentanyl, together worth nearly $1,000, along with $5,000 in cash, an axe and a knife, all of which was seized by the OPP. Charged with a variety of offences are Adrian Abel, 51, from Sudbury; Timothy Therrien, 52, from Dokis First Nation; and Josephine Corbiere, 48, from M’Chigeeng First Nation.
