The explosion of a World War II-era bomb at a Japanese airport this week has prompted the government to do a wider search for other possible unexploded bombs at airports that were targeted during the conflict.

An unexploded U.S. bomb from World War II that had been buried at a Japanese airport has exploded, causing a large crater in a taxiway and the cancellation of more than 80 flights but no injuries.

This is the dramatic moment a WWII bomb exploded next to the runway forcing flight cancellations at an airport in Japan on this morning. The ordnance is believed to have been dropped by the Allies to blitz kamikaze fighters from the Far East supporting the Nazi advance on the West lead by Adolf Hitler of Germany.
