Winter Storm Enzo is doing as predicted: dumping heavy snow on Southeast Texas in the early morning hours on Tuesday.

A winter storm dumped snow from Texas into Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and even Florida Tuesday. More of the South is up next.

Winter Storm Enzo is spreading a rare bout of snow and ice along the Gulf and Southeast coasts, snarling travel and resulting in potentially historic snowfall totals for some locations.

Winter Storm Enzo is already impacting portions of the U.S. South and could drop several inches of snow in spots not typically accustomed to snow and ice.

The first touches of Winter Storm Enzo arrived in Southeast Texas on Monday night as sleet began to fall in the Houston area . Residents from Waller County to Spring and Porter, Texas recorded sleet, wintry precipitation and flurries of now as the sun set and night swept over the region.

An Arctic blast is bringing extreme cold and snow to Mississippi and the Coast is expected to have lows in the teens and several inches of snow.

Snow and sleet started falling in Texas as officials begin to close schools and airports. Snow and ice could bring major travel disruptions and power outages from Texas to Florida.

Storm Enzo is sweeping across the South early this week, delivering winter weather to areas unaccustomed to it, such as Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Tallahassee, Jacksonville and coastal Carolinas.
