Prayagraj Nagar Nigam has begun enforcing a meat and liquor ban ahead of Mahakumbh-2025, closing shops in the area despite shopkeepers' protests.

While addressing the saint community at the Mahakumbh site, Chief Minister Adityanath underlined that every saint and devotee coming to bathe in the holy Triveni Sangam would witness the continuous and pure flow of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers.

The CM also directed the officials to ensure the steel bridge is completed by the first week of December to facilitate an easy access to Prayagraj from Kanpur, Lucknow, Barabanki, and Ayodhya.

The decision was taken in consideration of the sentiments of the entire Sanatan community, including sadhus, sanyasis and ascetics, Yogi Adityanath said in Prayagraj.
