A Cape May County grade-school teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student and birthing his baby when the boy was 13, a court record said. Laura Caron, 34, slept and showered with the boy, who began living at her Cape May Court House home at the age of 11, according to a probable cause statement.

According to Cabrini University records, the woman accused of a sexual relationship with a then-13-year-old grew up in Warrington.

Laura Caron, a 5th-grade teacher at Middle Township Elementary School, allegedly had an "inappropriate sexual relationship" with the student when they lived together at Caron’s home in Cape May Court House, an unincorporated community, between 2016 and 2020, according to a press release from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.

Middle Township School District Superintendent David Salvo received an anonymous tip on Dec. 12 saying a teacher — identified Wednesday as Laura R. Caron, 34, of the Cape May Court House section of Middle Township — may have sexually assaulted a student, according to an affidavit of probable cause in the case.

Caron gave birth in 2019 to a baby who was conceived as a result of that abuse, which occurred when the boy, now 20, was as young as 13.

Laura Caron was 28 years old when she was impregnated by a 13-year-old former student, and the whole situation unraveled when the child's father started asking questions on Facebook, according to a criminal affidavit.

A 34-year-old New Jersey teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting a student when the child resided in her home several years ago. Between 2016 and 2020, Laura R. Caron, of the Cape May Court House section of Middle Township, sexually assaulted a student born in 2005, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office said.
