One person is behind bars suspected of DUI and a hit-and-run suspect is on the loose after two people were struck and killed by vehicles in separate crashes in Fairfield, police said.

An arrest has been made hours after a driver struck and killed a pedestrian in Fairfield before driving away, the police department said. It marked the second deadly crash involving a pedestrian within 24 hours in the city.

Two pedestrians were hit and killed by cars in less than a day in the city of Fairfield. By Thursday night, both drivers had been arrested, facing different felony charges.
