WEBDec 14, 2010 · edit: just plugged in my ps4 and can confirm the psn store on ps4 is the ONLY place you can purchase avatars. Not on ps5, not on the app, not on your browser. only the ps4 (and maybe ps3) store. Thanks for the effort and the link :) I noticed they havnt really add any new ones in forever .

WEBOct 31, 2020 · Thanks! I think I’m wrong on this but I’m pretty sure the web store doesn’t allow you to buy avatars or themes anymore unless it’s on the system ps store itself. This was a very recent change that began this month, you also can’t use the web store for any content before the PS4 (that includes PSP and PS Vita).

WEBEdit 3: if you make a Japanese PSN account and buy a 1000 yen PSN card (~$13CAD), and navigate through the store (it’s fully in Japanese) you can find Haru, Akechi, and Kasumi’s themes. They sell for 200 yen each, so you’ll have 400 left over. The themes transfer to all accounts on the system but the avatars remain on the Japanese account.

WEBJul 27, 2022 · I did exactly that. I called the PS support and informed them that you do not get the avatars automatically. They wanted proof of my trophies for Chapter 1 and 18. After sending them screenshots of the trophies, it took one week and then the avatars just appeared on my profile.

The only way I get new ones now is by buying rare random deluxe versions of digital games or through some playstation promotion where you get a few with a code you enter. If you've got a PS3 or PS4 console lying around you can still use them to get old avatars that you can use on a PS5.
